For as long as I can remember my shaving routine has always been pretty minimalist and basic. I’ve always thought the options for men have been much more impressive than those for women. They have so many subscription services, new brands, creams and shaving kits to choose from where I feel like the options for me are so limited. When I had the opportunity to try Billie, a shaving subscription service just for women, I jumped at the chance to try it out!
They set me up with the Starter Kit which comes with a Billie Handle (comes in several super cute colors to pick from), two 5-blade razor cartridges, and a magnetic holder you can attach to your shower wall for storage. The kit runs at $9 and they’ll deliver replacement cartridges depending on how frequently you shave as often as you need them. I shave once per week so the system is setup to deliver 4 replacement cartridges every 3 months. Shipping is free for the starter kit and replacements too.
You can also add on a few extras like their Shave Cream or Body Lotion. I’ve put three Billie products to the test and here are my thoughts:
- The Billie Razor gives a nice smooth close shave without any razor burn or bumps. There are five blades encased in aloe shave soap around the edges which when wet helps add a buffer to the skin for the shave. I’ve tried this on my legs and under arms and really like how it shaves.
- The Billie Shave Cream is a thick creamy shave cream rather than a foaming shave cream. This has a nice smooth feel on the legs and leaves them feeling hydrated. (Full ingredient list is on their website.)
- The Dry-Bye Body Lotion is my favorite thing out of all the items I tried. I’m so picky with body lotions formulas because I have sensitive skin and scents can often interfere with my perfume of the day. This one has a nice light citrus smell but the scent fades after a few minutes. It dries down to a nice velvety finish which is going to be perfect for me when the humidity rises here in South Florida.
Overall I’ve been really happy with my Billie Shaving Kit testing! The razor is something I will definitely keep using and if you’re looking for a matte finish or velvety finish lotion with a nice dry down the body lotion is definitely worth checking out! The price point is very good for the quality and design and I’m so excited to finally up my shaving game with this set.
What’s your shaving routine like? I’d love to hear about your favorites!
You can find the Billie Starter Kit at MyBillie.com.
Sponsored by Billie. As always all opinions my own.

I’m glad to finally see a review of this. Currently I use my boyfriend’s razor with the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil for a close shave. I love it, but, as you know, it’s rather pricey.
Oh interesting! I never thought to use the shower oil that way, it’s indeed spendy but literally nothing else like it exists!
Try it. I read a blog post about it years ago and have since seen it on many Youtube videos. It gives the closest shave imaginable.

I’ve been a Billie subscriber for almost a year. I really like the razor, and the little magnetic holder as well. I’ll have to check out the lotion! I’ve been using the Glossier Body Hero but I need something lighter for the summer. 🙂
Wow! I didn’t realize they’ve been around that long. Glad to know you love the magnetic holder – I still have yet to find a good place to put it in our shower/bath.
i haven’t found anything better than the schick 5 blade cartridges for sensitive skin and the aveeno shave cream. i recently got a safety razor but despite watching youtube videos, i cannot get it to have anywhere near as smooth of a shave!
Thank you for a great post!! my shaving routine isnt that fancy. I just buy regular disposable razors and most of the time use my husbands shaving cream ha ha ha.
I lasered my legs 5 years ago which was the best investment ever. I use cheap disposable razors and shower gel for my underarms.
I’m pretty boring and just use a razor and L’Occitane Almond Shower oil! xx

I try to wax my legs as often as I can during colder months. During the rest of the year, I use a Gillette 5-blade razor with a thinner consistency shave gel.
I’m pretty simple when it comes to my shaving routine (or lack-of). I just lather up with my body wash or conditioner and shave once a week. That’s all I need, really.
I don’t do anything fancy.. I just shave while my skin is a little wet. Sometimes I would lather up before I shave.
I use cheap hair conditioner. No shaving cream and a men’s face razor. I find that it gets the best shave
I use a Silk Effects razor and Whish shave cream. That’s what works best for me.
Harry’s razor (men’s) and conditioner or whatever shaving cream costco has. I try and exfoliate first because my leg hair grows in weird directions.
Schick Intuition, and that’s it. No shaving cream required.
Rituals shower foam and any razor.
I just use whatever razors are on sale with either soap, shower gel, or some kind of shaving cream.
I use Gillette Venus razors with TJ’s tea tree hair conditioner to shave my legs. I have had laser hair removal, so I only shave my legs once a week at the most.
I use a venus comfort glide without additional shave cream. After a shower I like to use L’Occitane almond oil and then a lightweight lotion on top/kind of mixed in.
I usually end up using whichever razor is available or within reach, sometimes with shower gel and often times just with water. Would definitely love to try this though.
I must say that no matter what I have tried to shave with, I always end up with ingrowns and rashes on the bikini/brazillian area. So I wax that area, and shave my legs and armpits with just a cheap disposable razor (bad habit, I know).
I usually shave my arms everyday and legs twice a week! I will have to give this kit a try!
I have a good ol’ Venus razor and Alba Botanica shave cream in the shower. I love actually having time to take a nice long shower- hair mask, shaving, maybe even a face mask. But alas, it’s frequently a zip zip zip with the razor hoping not to cut myself. 😛
I just tried targets new brand called flamingo and so far I like it. My routine is to just shave when I shower.
I only shave from time to time because I live in a cold climate where legs and arms don’t get much exposure. When I travel to climate where I wear skirts and dresses I shave every other day with Venus Olay shaving bars
I currently don’t shave at all (partly because of my NTOS making it hard to use my hands and then partly as I was confronted by how it seems the default for women is to shave and somehow it’s an “active” choice not to which is effed up) but my sister would love this brand!
I only shave during shower time. I use Bic shavers but I am curious about these Billie shavers now,
I don’t shave 😂 but I do need a new razor so I’ll give this a try!
I use the Venus Razors as they are readily available and has disposable blades. They give a decent shave.
there’s no “routine” lol. Whenever I notice i am WAY too hairy I use venus razors in the shower wet.
Right now I wet shave with water daily. I use a Gillette razor. This new brand sounds amazing.
I shave in the shower using Dove soap w/the men’s Gillette disposable razors. Never heard of Billie before, I’ll have to check it out!
I shave when I wash my hair. It’s whatever razor I can find with L’occitane almond shower oil.
I shave every couple of weeks maybe? I am lucky not to need to very much 🙂
Very basic and boring routine w/Gillette Quatro but just ordered the Billie kit after reading your review and looking forward to it!
I shave daily using just a bar soap usually with a gillette razor.
wet shave with soap is my weekly routine.
I love that this is a 5 blade razor. My shaving routine is… almost non-existent. I shave under my arms every day but I get everything else waxed or threaded. When I do shave, I use a men’s razor (usually one with the maximum amount of blades) and dove soap or whatever shaving foam I have.
You know what they say – you win some and you lose some lol I shave every 2 months or month & half . I took on my mum’s side in this department and we are just not hairy on our legs or arms lol I literally have a few hairs growing on the back of my calves and that’s it . Armpits as well , a few hairs and that’s it 😀 I mainly use whatever I bought on sale , don’t have a particular brand that I love .
I’ve been using Billie, too! It’s super convenient and the razors are great. I haven’t tried any of the extras yet though.
I use whatever I am using in the shower..a nice bar soap or shower gel from Chanel, Keihls, Molten Brown or anything in my hand
I actually don’t shave at all as I am fortunate that the hair on my legs is so fine it is nearly non-existent!
Shave cream — legs once a week, underarms every few days.
I’m super lazy, just use a Schick razor with whatever body lotion I have handy (about once a week)!
Usually use whatever I’m using in the shower, typically a shower gel/body wash. Trying to reduce clutter in the bath and use multi-purpose products!
Basic routine with my shower gel. I grab a clean, sharp razor and I shave against the direction of hair growth. Rinse, pat dry and moisturizer. Now I love Ethiopian Coffee Cream from The Body Shop.
I hadn’t heard of Billie- will need to check it out. My routine is super minimal as well. I pick up a Quattro (or similar) multi-pack at Sam’s Club about once a year and typically just use my Olay ribbons body wash whilst in the shower. Like other readers here, I also enjoy and will use the L’Occitane Almond shower oil when I’ve got it on hand. Actually I like it better for shaving than for washing!
Have been wanting to check out Billie! My current shaving routine is pretty bare bones – shave with Venus 5-blade razor, usually using Jason coconut body wash as a shave cream, and then Trader Joes body butter afterwards!
My shaving routine is super lazy – whatever body wash s in my shower, and a razor – that’s it. I am lucky the hair on my legs is sparse so I only shave every few weeks – underarms pretty much weekly.
My shaving routine is pretty simple, I use conditioner in place of shaving cream, and prefer to use the BIC Soleil disposables
I shave once a week in the shower with whatever soap and/or conditioner I have nearby. Billie sounds interesting.
Since I discovered Veet Hair Remover Fast Acting Gel Cream, I haven’t shaved with a razor in years. Sooooo much better!
Just a Venus razor, no shave cream needed!
I’ve been lucky enough to not have to shave much, just waxing every few weeks!
I generally hop back and forth between my Schick Intuition razor (my longest standing favorite, though in more recent years not as much), Gillette Venus razor, or Schick Hydrosilk (most recently). I used to love Kiehl’s Simply Mahvelous Legs Shave Cream, so when that was discontinued, I was so excited to discover Cremo Shave Cream. I will absolutely not use anything else. (This is big, as I generally have zero brand/product commitment.) In the winter, I typically shave once a week, twice weekly during summer. Afterward, I like Shaveworks The Targeted Gel Lotion in areas I’m prone to ingrown hairs. Then, I follow-up all over with an unscented, alcohol-free moisturizer.
i have been using the intuition razor forever and really want to change. have been looking at the billie and the new similar one at target now and just need to make a change. i dont shave my legs very often but my underarms everyday.
