Best Complexion Products Foundations, Powder, Concealer

Sharing an updated base roundup today with my go-to favorites! I love testing new foundations, powers and concealers and lately I’ve been more into glow boosters and complexion enhancers.

Here’s what I’ve been loving. If you’re like me and find that your go-to foundations sometimes feel a little thick, heavy or don’t blend well I have some tricks and tips for you to try!

Foundation

Best Foundations Dior, Chanel, Armani and It Cosmetics

I like my foundation to look like skin but better, but I still need some coverage. I have a lot of sun spots and my skin is prone to redness so I look for formulas that have medium coverage to even out the skin.

Dior Forever Skin Perfect Foundation ($57, Nordstrom) is the best stick foundation I’ve tried. It blends easily, looks very natural, doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and I love the way it looks. The coverage is easy to control. I tried the hack of mixing this with the Rhode Glazing Milk and it is truly 10/10 worth trying. I mix shades as I’m usually in between Dior shades, I’ve tried 2.5N, 2W and 3N. Right now I mix one of the 2s with 3 for my perfect match. In action here.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation ($69, Chanel) has been a go-to for so many years I’ve lost count of how many bottles I’ve repurchased. My best match is BD41 and this golden undertone match is the best skin match I’ve ever tried. Love that they have a good shade range and different undertone options. They most recently started adding BO which is more olive and they’re really good tones without being too green/sallow if that makes sense. This has natural glowy coverage, hydrates, is long-wearing and easy to blend.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($69, Nordstrom and Sephora) in the new formula is tied with the Chanel. Comparing the two I think the new Armani formula feels a little bit lighter (thinner) and the coverage is just a bit sheerer but still medium and glowy. I wear Shade 6.5 in this formula. In action here.

It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow ($47, Sephora and Ulta) is the best CC cream I’ve tried. Most CC creams tend to be very thick and this is the thinnest one I’ve tried which makes it easier for my skin to breathe in humid weather. It’s still creamy and somewhat thick compared to other bases, but it’s like the skin tint version of a CC cream. Love that it has SPF 40. It’s perfect for every day, the beach, bike rides, pretty much any occasion.

Concealer

Best Concealer formulas YSL, Chanel, Natasha Denona

I’ve really been skipping concealer most days, but I still reach for it if I’m going to an event or a special night out. I love testing new formulas and I know a lot of you don’t like to wear a lot of face makeup but just a little bit of concealer on a tinted moisturizer.

Classics like NARS, Hourglass and Tarte are still incredible formulas, but these days I’ve been reaching for YSL, Chanel or Natasha Denona.

The YSL Touche Eclat ($40, Sephora) is still the best undereye brightening concealer. This works for me since I don’t have a lot of dark under eye circles. Sometimes I just want a little bit of brightening and I love the consistency of this one. I wear Shade 3.

Chanel launched a new concealer formula recently called the Ultra Le Teint Correcteur Concealer ($53, Chanel) and this is the first Chanel concealer that has worked for me. I love their foundations but I’ve never really liked their concealers. This one is thin but easy to blend. I tried a few different shades and I like B40 or BD41 the best. For concealers I tend to like them a little more peachy or neutral for eyes. This runs very similar to the Prada formula but I have a slight preference for the Chanel because of the color match on me. You can see it in action here.

Natasha Denona Hy-Glam ($32, Sephora) is the best full coverage creamy concealer that I can wear under the eyes or to spot conceal. It’s creamy, blends well, doesn’t cake and long wearing. 10/10 love this.

Complexion Enhancers/Glow Boosters

Best Glow Boosters

I used to think mixing glow products wasn’t necessary for me. These days sometimes a foundation might feel too heavy or thick. Or sometimes my skin is extra dry and foundation doesn’t blend like it should but at the same time I don’t want a heavier moisturizer underneath. I’ve found some incredible complexion mixers or glow boosters.

Armani Fluid Sheer ($43, Nordstrom) is a classic. I don’t really use these as a highlighter as they’re too sheer once blended. I prefer to mix them with a foundation and I love Shade 10 because it’s golden but sheer. It adds a really nice glow to the skin. The only downside is it’s incredibly pricey to mix in with foundation on a regular basis.

One/Size Base Thinner ($36, Sephora) is a recent discovery in the Bronze Pearl shade and I am 100% obsessed. I love the shade and way it adds the perfect amount of glow to the skin. It mixes really well with foundations and the glow is perfect. Not too shimmery, not too emollient, not too sheer – just perfect. I really want to try the Pink Pearl formula too. Skin looks fresh and radiant without being over the top.

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Glotion ($17.99, Ulta) is a classic and budget friendly. Love that they have different shades. I’ve tried multiple and love them. It’s a really great multi-tasker. You can wear it as a primer under foundation, mix it with your base or use it on top to add a little bit of glow.

Saie Glowy Super Gel ($29, Sephora) is another great multi-purpose illuminator. I’ve tried this a number of ways but my favorite way to wear this is mixing it with foundation. I really love this mixed with the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I’ve tried all the shades and Roseglow is my favorite. I think this is the best for dry skin but it’s not heavy. It has a slightly transparent quality to it with the gel formula which I love.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($50, Sephora) is the OG glow booster. There are so many dupes of this, some are very good, but I have to give a shout out to the original innovator. Love this and I still think it’s worth the splurge. If you think this is too shimmery for you I also really love her Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Foundation Stick as an alternative.

Sarah Creal Today’s Highlights Peptide Balm Luminizer ($55, Sephora and Sarah Creal) is my favorite cream highlighter of the moment. I know so many of you love the dewy highlighters like ones from Westman Atelier, Chanel and Merit etc. I love the look of so many of these but because I’ve always lived somewhere warm – a few hours of wear time = greasy mess. The Sarah Creal one is more natural looking but the formula is elite! It gives that lit from within glow.

BEst Cream Highlighter

Rhode Glazing Milk ($20-32, Sephora and Rhode) is 10/10 a must for dry skin. I don’t think you need super dry skin to use it. I love this mixed with foundations to help them blend better on the skin whenever they look or feel too heavy.

Best Essence Rhode Glazing Milk

Contour/Bronzer

After all these years of trying makeup I have to admit I’m still not into contouring. I prefer a subtle cream bronzer with a little bit of warmth as cool tones tend to clash with my skin tone. These are the most natural looking ones I’ve tried.

Best Cream Bronzers

Makeup By Mario SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer ($34, Sephora) is my favorite cream bronzer that has an emollient texture and sheer finish. I think it’s a little too creamy to wear on its own so I usually set with a powder blush or bronzer, but I love this to add warmth to the skin. I’ve tried both Medium and Medium Dark. Swatches here.

Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer ($32, Sephora) is the best for super dry skin or if you want something super sheer or balmy. It does pull very sheer once blended but I like the warmth and super natural look it gives the skin.

Dior Forever Skin Bronze Bronzing Stick Balm ($52, Nordstrom) is another great skin-like bronzer. This is probably my favorite bronzing stick that still looks very natural on the skin. I can wear 02, 03 or 04 – I think the shades are pretty easy to wear. It has a satiny finish that looks like skin. I really love that this is a non-dewy option that isn’t too matte. Swatches here.

Powder

Best Setting Powder Laura Mercier

Last but not least a quick shoutout to my go-to setting powder right now. I used to be a pressed powder person, but the past few years I’ve almost exclusively used the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powders ($26-$48, Nordstrom) with a puff. The lasting power is much better with a powder and I think hers are the best for looking natural.

Tools

Quick shoutout for my favorite foundation brushes. I love the ones from It Cosmetics, Hourglass, Fenty, Laura Mercier. For concealer I swear by the ones from Hourglass and Real Techniques.

January Favorites

Rounding up my January beauty favorites for the month!

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in the new formula has been a win for me! Full review here and also a demo here. I’ve been reaching for it a lot and love the coverage and naturally glowy finish. This has been the formula I’ve worn the most this month.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation new formula review Shade 6.5

I think an updated skincare routine is in order as it’s been a while since I’ve done one, but I wanted to mention a few favorites this past month.

I’ve been using the LED masks more consistently and really love the one from Currentbody. I still have the original but recently updgraded to the Mask Series 2 which has a better fit to the contours of the face. They’ve since added a couple newer versions with different lights that I’m curious about, but so far I’ve really been loving the Mask Series 2. You can use code BEAUTYLB for 10% off.

Currentbody LED Mask Series 2

La Mer is quite the splurge, but my skin texture has improved drastically after using the Regenerating Serum. I’ve been using this for almost two months and it’s really helpled with fine lines and my skin isn’t as dull anymore. I’ve also used up The Renewal Oil and Moisturizing Soft Cream multiple times and recently repurchased over the holidays. My wallet is not happy about it, but no matter what I try, I keep going back to these two. The oil is my favorite and I love mixing it in with other face creams.

La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream

Dior Beauty has my heart for new launches! I stopped by my local Dior Beauty boutique earlier in the year and picked up the new Addict Perfumes, new lip oils and Forever Skin Bronzing Balm Sticks. I haven’t done a review but will soon. By now I’ve already almost used up an entire bottle of the Dior Addict Rosy Glow Eau de Parfum (sweet floral) and bought a second. The new Forever Skin Bronzing Balm Sticks are really good (Shade 03 shown). I like them better than the Contour Sticks. The new Bronzing Balm Sticks are sheerer and the colors are better suited for my skin tone for a more natural look.

Dior Beauty Loves

The Hourglass Cosmetics Curator Palettes have had mixed reviews. I think there are some hits and misses with these. These are great if you want a more natural eye look or don’t wear eyeshadow a lot because the combinations are great for an effortless look. Some of them pull a little too natural looking which is why I give some of them a miss. However, I rediscovered Futurist which is a beautiful one I have been reaching for a lot. It’s in action in this reel here in case you’re curious.

So many of you love Sarah Creal and I have also fallen in love with her products. Her makeup has been in heavy rotation and I find myself reaching for her No Further Questions Glosses and Eyes Up Creamy Kajal Longwear Eyeliners. So many of you have raved about her eyeliners and I agree they are 10/10! They glide on easily without tugging and I love the pigment. I didn’t expect to love the Today’s Highlights Balm Luminizer as much as I do. I think these have the perfect amount of pigment and glow for me. I like blending them on top of a cream or powder blush whenever I feel like the blush color is too saturated. This gives the cheeks that pretty glow.

Tatcha used to be one of my favorite skincare brands but with all the new launches and skincare testing they kind of fell off my radar. I recently rediscovered some things thanks to some recommendations from you and love the Rice Enzyme Powder for a gentle exfoliant. I also love the Kissu Lip Mask for these dry winter months. I tried the Kissu Lip Serum and have to say while I love the packaging and applicator, the Lip Mask is a million times better at hydration (at least for me).

Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder and Kissu Lip Mask

For perfume, aside from the Dior, I also have been obsessed with Creed Pure White Cologne. It’s a fresh clean scent that has Grapefruit, Petit Grain, Bigarade, Jasmine, Orris Butter, Watermelon, White Musk, Ambroxan and Cedarwood. This is the most expensive perfume I’ve ever purchased, but it’s the best clean fresh scent I’ve ever tried and also happens to be Andrew’s favorite scent on me. I personally find it fresh, unique and makes me so happy. I really love the Refillable Atomizers (also here) to fill with my go-to scents and carry them in my purse. These make really beautiful gifts too.

Creed Pure White Cologne

Also not beauty related but I get asked about my jewelry almost daily! I have saved the details on everything I wear to my JEWERLY highlights, let me know if you want an updated jewelry tour! My wedding band and tiny T Wire Diamond Ring is also from Tiffany. The ring on my index is from Mejuri.

Jewelry from Tiffany, Mejuri and James Allen

My link bracelet is an older style from Tiffany & Co. They don’t make this particular style anymore but it’s one of my favorite gifts from Andrew and I think I’ve had it for over 10 years.

The tennis bracelet was a splurge last year from James Allen and I love it! Some of you might remember from my Instagram stories that I had been on the hunt for one for probably over a year. My wrists are very small so most everything I’ve seen online needs to be custom made which means it will take longer to create and ship. I had planned to visit a few jewelers in NYC but given all the other fun things to do in New York, I never made it to those shops.

After reading a lot of reviews I decided on James Allen last July and I’m 100% thrilled with this purchase. I also have some earrings from them which I really love. My bracelet is s a lab diamond tennis bracelet in the 6 inch length, 5 carats with 14K Yellow Gold. I was able to buy this with a good promo code so the price was very reasonable. Loved that it was in a 6 inch length (my wrist is 5.5 inches) so I didn’t have to get it resized. It did take a little over 30 days for them to make and ship it. The clasp is very strong and it’s a little hard to get on and off on my own, but I think it was 100% worth the splurge. If I had been able to try it on in person I probably would have opted for a larger carat option, but I think this is a great size to start.

That wraps up my favorites this month! I’m working my way through new concealer formulas. You can see the demo of Chanel Ultra Le Teint in BD31 and B40 here (this is the first Chanel concealer formula I’ve actually liked) and also a demo of Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Concealer in 6.5, 7 and 7.5 here. I’ll have a roundup of Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury, RMS, Victoria Beckham Beauty and Prada as soon as I can!

What did you love this past month?

2025 Top 25 Most-Loved

Best Makeup of 2025

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season! I’ve been MIA on the blog this past year as this has been a year of big changes and transitions for me. Back in the spring Andrew and I finally moved to our dream city and I am so thrilled that we found a place that truly feels like home. Those of you who have been following me for a long time know we moved a lot since 2017 and for me nothing ever quite felt like a place I wanted to stay long-term. Moving to Miami Beach has been one of the best things we’ve done and we are so happy to be here.

I hope to pick up blogging this year. I’ve neglected the blog as my focus shifted to Instagram for social media content. A lot of you have asked if I’ll be blogging more as you seem to enjoy reading the detailed reviews and I hope to be more organized to focus more on what I love most which is this blog.

Here were the things I loved the most in 2025. Many of them are my tried and true and the ones I think I’ll be taking with me well into the new year.

Base Makeup Favorites

Best Foundations of 2025 Chanel, Dior, Armani and Saie

There are always a lot of new foundation and concealer launches every year but my favorites were my long-time tried and true.

Dior Forever Skin Perfect Foundation Stick – This was my most-used foundation this year. I alternate between 2.5N and 3N. Love everything about it from the coverage, color, finish, blendability and lasting power.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – This was my second most-used foundation. Armani did reformulate the classic recently. I’ve been testing the new one for a couple weeks now and will review soon but so far it seems to be just as good as the original. I picked up my usual shade 6.5 in the new formula and it works for me! A few of the shades have changed (I recommend using their shade chart to check your shades).

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation – This will always be a favorite. It’s a classic I love for the shade range, undertone and formula.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powders – I’ve always been a pressed powder girlie but this year I started using loose powders but with a puff and the lasting power is SO much better. I really love all the Laura Mercier loose powders. I alternate between her original Translucent Loose and the Ultra-Blur in Rose which gets the most compliments!

Saie Glowy Super Gel – My skin has been going through changes this past year and a half or so. I’ve experienced dry skin as I age and suddenly so many foundations end up looking cakey my skin. This glowy gel mixed in with foundations has helped tremendously! I love the Rose Glow shade.

Cheeks

Best Blush and Highlighters of 2025, YSL, Rhode, Armani and Chanel

Armani Luminous Silk Liquid Blush (review + swatches here) – This is the best liquid blush for the best wear time. I really hope they expand the colors! I tried both the matte and radiant finishes, I have a slight preference for the mattes but both are very good.

Rhode Pocket Blush in Freckle and Piggy (review + swatches here) – Another favorite this year! Love these for the convenience, pigment and lasting power too. I brought Freckle with me on all my trips for the best everyday neutral hint of color.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palettes (2025 palettes reviewed here) – I really loved all the holiday palettes this year, even with the repeat shades. The color range was 10/10 perfect for me. I love the fun designs they launch every year. Really surprised they sold out so fast this year.

RMS ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush in Crystal Slipper – This was my most-worn blush of the year. It’s one of the best everyday glowy neutral tan blushes I’ve tried.

Chanel Jeux de Lumieres Highlighter Quad (review here) – My favorite highlighters were from this stunning palette! I think this particular collection was my favorite in the entire year.

YSL Make Me Blush (review here) – This was the best powder blush formula of the year. I think 44 Nude Lavalliere is the best color but I also really love 23 Rose Haze. Formula is super smooth and silky. Love that they have mattes and shimmers. More colors in 2026 please!

Eye Makeup

Natasha Denona I Need a Warm Palette

I really tried to branch out for my eye makeup this year, but nothing new really caught my eye.

Natasha Denona hands down wins for the best of the best. The I Need a Warm Palette (swatches + review here) is still my favorite although I really love her My Dream Palette too (swatches here).

Makeup By Mario Master Mattes Original – No matter how many other matte neutral palettes are launched this one remains my favorite. For some reason this is also the palette that gets me the most compliments.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Eyeliner – This is still my favorite eyeliner formula but it MUST be set with a powder eyeshadow on top to make it last. Otherwise it will smudge. I love this for the creamy formula and super rich pigment.

Tarte Tartelette Tubing Mascara XL – This is my most worn mascara formula of the year. It doesn’t smudge or clump. Removes easily with warm water. I wish it lengthened my short stubby lashes more but out of all the formulas this is the best one I’ve tried.

Lip Favorites

Best Lip Products 2025

Rouge Dior On Stage 120 Iconic Rose

I have so many lip favorites this year!

Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Shine (review here) – Chanel launched a shine version of the Rouge Coco Baume this year and I wish they would launch this in more colors! I loved every single shade in this formula, but the best one for me is Honey Bliss 752.

Chanel Le Crayon Levres Longwear Lip Pencil – Chanel’s lip liner remains my favorite although I will say the formulas from Dior, Tom Ford and Maybelline are close rivals. I think the Chanel shades in Nude Brun and Rose Naturel are the best ones.

Prada Monochrome Lipstick in B101 Tiepolo (in action here) – This is one of the shades you loved the most on me. I love the Prada matte lipsticks and I think this one is also one of my favorites.

Dior Lip Glow Balm – This was reformulated yet again and I still don’t quite understand why they keep changing this, but I do think this latest formula is the best one yet. It’s not as waxy as the previous versions and is indeed more hydrating. My favorite shade was 077 Candy which transforms into a warm pink but doesn’t shift too much.

Dior Rouge Dior On Stage Lipstick (review here) – I really love this formula and the slim sleek design of this lipstick. Iconic Rose is the best shade and I really hope they add more lighter neutrals or peach tones in this formula because it’s absolute perfection!

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer – This is still my all time favorite lip gloss formula. It’s a plumping gloss but I really like that it’s not too plumping and on me there is zero tingle or sting.

Tom Ford Lip Color (review + swatches here) – Part of me really misses the old Tom Ford Beauty days. I feel like the innovation isn’t what it used to be but I really did love the new formula of the lip colors from a couple years ago and last year I used Spanish Pink a lot.

Maybelline Lifter Gloss – This is the best budget-friendly gloss. Love all the colors I’ve tried. Gummy Bear is the best baby pink. Also love the shimmers and pigmented shades too.

Nails

My two most complimented nail colors this year were quick dry formulas. Olive and June Quick Dry in Puffball was a favorite since my usual go-to sheer pinks seem to have been discontinued.

OPI RapiDry Quick Dry in Stunn n Done is the nail color I got the most questions about. Also love this one for the color and quick dry formula.

I wear the Essie Speed Setter as a top coat but I’m currently testing a few other formulas to see if there is one that lasts longer.
This year I felt like I skipped concealer and bronzer most of the time. I did wear these occasionally but they didn’t seem like they were part of my regular routine.

That wraps up my makeup favorites for the year! Would love to hear about yours in the comments!

Beauty Favorites Loving Right Now

Best of July

August 2, 2025

Eric Javits Squishee Isla Bag

I’ve been a little MIA on the blog here but hope to post more often here in the near future. I still share new beauty reviews and discoveries nearly every day on social, but I do really miss writing here. I’ll have a Q&A here soon but in the meantime I have a roundup with July’s Top 12 Favorites. Here’s what I loved the most this past month.

Best Scents

Phlur Vanilla Nectar is the best summertime vanilla. This comes in a Hair and Body Mist and I love that it’s not too heavy and it has just the right amount of sweetness! Vanilla Skin is very similar but I love the slightly fruity notes of Vanilla Nectar making it fun for warm weather.

Phlur Vanilla Nectar

Parfums de Marly Valaya and Valaya Exclusif are my most complimented scents. I gave both a little break for a few months because I felt like I was wearing it too much. I love the Parfums de Marly Trio from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (August 3rd is the last day of the sale). I love having the minis to carry in my purse for on-the-go! Valaya is the stronger variation while Valaya Exclusif has a softer feel with powdery notes of almond. Both are very good.

Parfums de Marly Valaya and Valaya Exclusif

Loewe Tomato Leaves Candle has been on my mind for quite some time but I really didn’t want to splurge. I finally did on the Candle and the Room Spray. The candle in the Medium size is best candle splurge I’ve ever made. It smells like a fresh garden and it’s pure love. The Room Spray is also exceptionally good.

Loewe Tomato Leaves Candle

Skin

Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads have made the list again! I’ve been really struggling with texture this year and clogged pores from sweat, sunscreen and makeup. Even with double cleansing I still really think a good exfoliator is essential. It did take me a couple weeks to adjust to these but I love that they don’t make the skin feel like there’s a film on it. I started out with 1x per week, then 2x per week. Now I use them every other day at night. They are truly a game changer for clearer better skin. I have my eye still on the Facewear Pro Set with the LED Mask (the set price is a pretty good deal) but since I already own 3 other LED masks that I really love from Foreo and CurrentBody I’m hesitant about splurging on another one.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads

Hair

T3 Aire IQ Hair Dryer has been another favorite and it’s still on sale for $100 off at Nordstrom for the Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives (prices go up August 4th). I love the stand, the attachments and the customization options. You can use the pre-sets based on your hair type and the settings will change with each attachment. You can also pick manual settings for intensity of air flow and temperature. There is a cool shot button too. 10/10 love this. You can see it in action here.

Accessories

Eric Javits Squishee Tote has been a favorite and the design is pure love. It has the best pockets and it’s the perfect size to carry everything I need. I’ve had the Black Mix color for years and it has still held up remarkably well. The team recently gifted the Peanut one and I love the colorway. Both are on sale at Eric Javits. The Hamptons Hat and Squishee Pith Hat are also musts for me.

I’ve been searching for a classic tennis bracelet for what seems like forever. Finding one in the exact size and length I wanted has not been easy as I have small wrists. I will say that after searching tons of reviews on TikTok more and more brands are offering better selections or resizing options these days.

I had narrowed down my options to Mejuri or James Allen and ended up splurging on one from James Allen. I loved the Lab Diamond Earrings I bought from them and found they had a Lab Diamond Tennis Bracelet in a 6 inch length. They have pretty good sales and promo codes if you sign up for their newsletter so I was able to buy one at a very good price.

James Allen Lab Diamond Tennis Bracelet 6 inches, 5 carats

The one I bought is 6 inches, 4 prong setting, 14k gold in the 5 carat option. It’s so well made. Since it was made to order it did take nearly a month for them to make and ship it but I am 100% happy with the splurge. They have lots of options for length, carat size, metal and settings! They also offer ones with natural diamonds but they are priced quite a bit higher than the lab diamonds.

Another favorite this month was the Tom Ford Penny 55mm Sunglasses. These were my favorite splurge from the Nordstrom sale. I bought the tortoise color.

Tom Ford Penny 55mm Polarized Geometric Sunglasses

The Away Clear Travel case is also another favorite. It comes with a removable strap and is technically a stadium bag, but I use it as a mini clutch. It’s perfect for the pool or beach to carry just the essentials. I love the clear option so you can see what’s inside.

Away Clear Stadium Bag as a clutch

Makeup LOVES

The NARS Afterglow Lip Balm is in heavy rotation again. I love these for the formula and color. They’re so comfortable on the lips and add just the right amount of hydration and color. I’ve used up all the colors I bought in the past, but right now I have Orgasm and Fast Lane which are part of an Afterglow Lip Balm Duo at Nordstrom.

NARS Afterglow Lip Balm in Orgasm

Bobbi Brown Easy Neutrals Palette is the perfect everyday quad. Texture and pigment are phenomenal. Shades don’t look as exciting in the pan, but they apply beautifully and blend easily for an effortless look. I am really happy I decided to pick this up, I almost passed after seeing it instore, but I love every single color. It also comes with a gel liner in the set. You can see them both in action here.

Bobbi Brown Easy Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette & Eyeliner

OPI Stunn N Done is the most complimented nail color this year. It’s the RapiDry formula so it dries very fast. I wear this shade with 3 coats, but you can definitely wear just 2. It almost makes the fingers glow!

May Favorites: Hair, Skin + Body Edition

June 4, 2025

May Beauty Favorites

Rounding up my favorites from May today. I usually focus on makeup favorites but so many of you have asked for more skincare and haircare loves so today’s post is all about hair, body and skin.

My hair and skin has been going through some changes since around November with an extended dry season this past winter/spring. We also had some big life changes with our recent move and while both Tampa Bay and Miami Beach are both very sunny and hot, Miami is significantly hotter and I think the excess heat has dehydrated my skin.

I’ve been switching things up for skin and hair. Here is what I’ve been loving.

Skincare Loves

Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser

My top two cleansers are still the Chanel L’Huile Anti-Pollution Cleansing Oil and the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. I tried several other brands but these are the best for effectively removing sunscreen + makeup without stripping the skin. I also really like the new Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Barrier-Hydrating Cleanser too (just as good as the original but more hydrating). FYI Kiehl’s is offering 25% off for their Friends and Family Sale (Members get 30% off). Andrew also uses both Kiehl’s Cleansers.

Chanel L’Huile Anti-Pollution Cleansing Oil and the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser

Out of all the new moisturizers I tried, the InnBeauty Project line at Sephora has been the best for me. The products I tried are richer and more hydrating than I typically use but I really love that they weren’t heavy and they feel so good on the skin. I started with the travel sizes (also love this value trial set here). I ended up travel sizes of the Extreme Cream but purchased full sizes of the Extreme Cream Eye and the Elastic Skin Firming Plumping Serum.

The serum has a really nice light texture and absorbs really well into the skin. I love layering all three together and can happily report they didn’t irritate or clog my pores. 10/10 recommend.

InnBeauty Project Extreme Cream and Eye Cream

I’ve also experienced texture issues and the clogged pores have been mainly due to lack of exfoliation. I had an amazing facial at one of the local skin clinics here in Miami Beach (included hydrafacial, radio frequency, LED treatment and a few other things). They really helped give my skin a kickstart to clear it up. For exfoliation, two things I’ve found to be game changers are from U Beauty and Dr. Dennis Gross.

I started using the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads again and it has been a game changer. I also love the peel pads/resurfacing options from First Aid Beauty and Elemis but I needed something stronger and the ones from Dr. Dennis Gross are perfect. I’m using them 2-3x per week in the evenings. They also have other options in Extra Gentle or Extra Strength and also come in smaller trial sizes in case you’re new to them and are unsure of what kind to try.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads

A number of you recommended the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound and I finally decided to try it – it’s also a gamechanger. I bought a mini set and am 100% going to buy the full size. The Resurfacing Compound is a serum with Vitamin C, Retinol, Multi-Hydroxy Acids, Vitamin E and antioxidants. I have been really impressed with how it’s improving texture. Since I don’t want to overdo the acids (especially with the peel pads) I only use this 2x per week as a serum under moisturizer.

Another shout out for the Bliss Clear Genius Acne Spot Treatment because this is holy grail material. It’s hands down the best acne spot treatment with 2% salicylic acid. I can apply it on spots (and reapply 2-3x throughout the day on bigger pimples) and it helps reduce the inflammation and really target the acne. Andrew swears by this too.

Sun Care Loves

I’ve been trying virtually every new sunscreen formula possible since moving to Miami. The sun is so much stronger here and since we are out everyday with Ollie’s walks we’ve been more diligent with sunscreen.

I still really love the Chanel UV Essentiel because of the texture. It’s not too thick or heavy and wears well under makeup.

For a mineral option I love the one from Caudalie and tinted one from ISDIN. You do have to be more diligent with double cleansing if you use a mineral as they tend to adhere more to the skin.

I’ve been a long-time devotee of the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector SPF 60 but decided to give the new Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion Mineral version a try. I like it a lot! It has a very slight white cast but when you blend it you can’t really see it. It has a better dry down while the other version is a bit more emollient. I’ve been using the mineral version on my body all month. It does take extra work to remove though. The best combo for mineral body sunscreen removal includes the EcoTools Shower Gloves and Jack Black Turbo Wash.

Body Care

Body Care Staples

My all-time favorite body oil from Chanel is back! I am so thrilled they restocked it. Chanel body oils are quite the splurge but they are packaged in a beautiful glass bottle and are the most luxurious ones on the skin. Love that they now have a little stopper at the top to control how much oil comes out. The Chanel Huile Douce is a lighter body oil and it smells so fresh and clean. I love how it’s not sticky and it makes the skin soft unlike any other oil I’ve tried.

For hand care my favorite cuticle oils are the Chanel L’Huile Camelia and Hermes Nourishing Oil. Both are spendy but I’ve repurchased both and I think they are 100% worth the splurge.

I mentioned a while back having some challenges finding a deodorant that didn’t irritate my skin. I had a major skin flareup from bug spray last year that resulted in hives. It took about 3 months to fully recover. Ever since then my skin has experienced sensitivities to deodorant, even the ones I had been using for years (such as Native, Salt and Stone, L’occitane). So far Saltair and Phlur formulas have been the only ones I can use without irritation. I’ve been reaching for the Saltair one more as the Santal scent doesn’t interfere with my perfumes as much as a vanilla option.

Back on the exfoliation topic, while I won’t use a physical scrub on my face I can definitely still use it on the body. We started using the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser and we love it. It’s cleared up all of Andrew’s body breakouts and I like using this on my legs. I have just ordered the KP options from Saltair and Naturium to try too. Will keep you posted!

Osea Malibu Bodycare

Also been really loving Osea Malibu. I also started using this line with minis a while ago and fell in love. I just restocked all my favorites including travel sizes. I love the Undaria Algae Body Oil, Lotion and Body Serum. 10/10 recommend trying one of their travel kits if you’re new to the line.

Hair Care

May Haircare Favorites

Last I have some hair care loves for the month. My hair has been feeling dry on the ends so I switched things up. My favorite line has been the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Urban Moisture Deep Hydration Shampoo, Conditioner and Mask. I loved this line so much I repurchased everything after using it up. It’s a great hydrating line that doesn’t weigh down my hair and I love the way it smells.

After still experiencing dry ends, I started using the Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum again. I had forgotten about this and can’t rave about it enough! If your hair doesn’t seem to be improving with leave-in conditioners, masks or oils, I highly recommend trying this serum. You apply it at night and I can’t tell you how big a difference it makes.

The R&Co Dart Stick gets another shout out. This is something I cannot live without for my flyaways at the roots. I’ve still been getting regrowth and my thick hair will not stay put with hair spray. This is the best option I’ve found to keep them in place. While it won’t make your hair super greasy, if you sweat you will find you need to wash it out at the end of the day.

I love a good purse sized brush but most of them end up getting smashed in my bag. I love the ghd mini brush for a hard one that won’t bend easily in your bag. The Hair Rituel by Sisley Brush comes in a mini Pocket Brush size and I love it. I do wish I had a mini case for it to protect it better, but it’s still very sturdy and durable. I love that it’s mini but still big enough to be effective.

That wraps up my May favorites! If you had any loves please let me know! I always love reading about the things you’ve discovered and have fallen in love with.

February Beauty Favorites

February Beauty Favorites

I can’t believe another month has flown by. January felt like the longest month ever but February went by so quickly. I have a roundup of favorites for February! Here are some things I really loved this month.

Chanel Spring Summer 2025

Chanel Beauty Spring 2025 favorites

Chanel Beauty’s spring collection has been in heavy rotation (full review here). I still really love every single shade of the Rouge Coco Baume Shines, in particular Tender Peach and Honey Bliss. I still really love the Jeux de Lumieres highlighter palette. It has been a versatile one for me I can use on the eyes and cheeks. I’ve been using the Chanel Brush 107 or 106 with the palette. I am still 100% obsessed with the eyeshadow singles, especially the Peche Glace.

Byredo Mojave Ghost Absolu

Byredo Mojave Ghost vs Mojave Ghost Absolu

I splurged on the Byredo Mojave Ghost Absolu as a gift to myself for Christmas and I really love it. The Mojave Ghost Absolu smells very similar to the original version, but the Absolu has better and longer lasting power. I also find the Absolu variation to be richer and creamier with more depth. I am 100% happy with the splurge. If you already own the original I do think the absolu is too similar to justify both.

Tom Ford Peach Glamour

Tom Ford Peach Glamour Eyeshadow Quad

Tom Ford launched two new eyeshadow palettes in the crème formula and I picked up the lighter/neutral option Peach Glamour. A few of you told me this is actually the powder formula in a new formulation, but quite a few places, including Tom Ford’s website have it listed under the crème formula page. It does have a creamy feel but it’s softer and not as dry as the other cremes making it a lot easier to blend. The colors are light and shimmery but not over the top. Peach Glamour is what I wanted Nude Dip to be on me. I think Nude Dip is a classic, but on someone with my skin tone it almost pulls cool-toned while Peach Glamour is warmer but more neutral.

By popular request I also pulled comparisons to Tiger Eye (crème formula reviewed here) and Suspicion (powder, reviewed here discontinued).

Complexion Favorites

Two complexion products I’ve been loving are from Dior and Saie. I still cannot get enough of the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Foundation Stick (3N in action demo in action here). Right now I wear 2.5N for my winter color and this is hands down the easiest foundation to apply and travel with. I also love the finish and coverage. It blurs, blends easily, isn’t too heavy, has impressive coverage but looks natural. It has become my most-reached-for foundation this year.

Dior Forever Skin Perfect Foundation Stick 3N

I also really love the Saie Glowy Super Gel in Roseglow. It’s so good mixed in with foundation or as a base. I have another demo of it in action here.

Saie Glowy Supergel Rose Glow and Warm Glow

Neutral Honey Beige Lips

As a neutral lip lover I am always looking for more honey tones to try. There are four I really loved this month.

Neutral lip honey beige nudes Milani, Hourglass, MAC and Chanel

The Milani Keep it Full Glossy Plumping Balm is a really good budget-friendly formula. It’s comfortable on the lips, hydrating and plumping without any stinging and I think it rivals the ones from Tarte and Hourglass. The Milani ones are not as thick in texture, but are still balmy and glossy. I shared an application here of Puff (beige) and Bisou (red) in partnership with Target and I truly stand by these. I ended up buying a few more colors and really love them.

The new Hourglass Phantom Glossy Balm shades for spring are so good, I’ve been loving Wander which is a lighter peachy beige shimmer but all of the new shimmers are beautiful. Spring shades swatched here.

MAC added quite a few neutrals in their lipstick and lip liner formulas. I really wanted to love the shades like Cool Spice and Cool Teddy, but they ended up being too cool-toned for me. I did pick up the Lip Pencil in Beige Turner and it’s a perfect beige neutral for me.

Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Shine in Honey Bliss is such a good everyday neutral. It has a bit of gold shimmer but it’s not frosty. This is my perfect swipe and go polished nude lip look.

One shout out for the Glossier Sharpener. I know it’s not the most exciting thing and it’s kinda spendy for a sharpener, but it is GENIUS with the cover to hold all the pencil shavings so you can travel with it or keep it in your makeup bag without having to worry about making a mess.

Skincare Favorites

Skincare favorites Laneige, La Mer, Phlur, Chanel

My favorite cleanser I keep going back to is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser I do like to try new ones every now and then. I picked up the Laneige Water Bank Gentle Gel Cleanser and it’s 10/10 love. It’s gentle but effective and I love the creamy gel texture. I find it hydrating and great for this time of year.

This year is the driest my skin has been. I started using the Hydrating Infused Emulsion underneath my regular moisturizer and it was exactly what my skin needed this dry season. It has made a HUGE difference in restoring moisture to my skin. A little goes a long way and I only use one pump to try and maximize every last bit of this product.

I mentioned a month ago that for some reason almost all of my deodorants started causing a rash and allergic reaction for me. I’ve used Native, L’Occitane and Salt and Stone for a while and for some reason I am not able to use them anymore. I gave the Phlur Deodorants a try and they’re a winner for me. Long lasting, no reaction and I love the scents. Vanilla Skin (vanilla) and Father Figure (fig) are both really good. I really hope they consider launching it in Missing Person or Phloria or even Solar Power.

For sunscreen I’ve been really loving the Chanel UV Essentiel. It has worked well with other moisturizers and also makeup on top. I love the texture and finish.

Cyklar Bergamot Bond Body Wash

Another shout of for Cyklar body washes is necessary as by this point Andrew and I have used up both the Naked Neroli and Bergamot Bond. This is still the best body wash we have tried in a long time and the texture feels really nice on the skin. Andrew liked it so much he asked me to restock this and I ordered more. By the time of this post we are almost through our second bottle of the Bergamot one. I also tried the Crescent one which is more of an amber blend. It’s also a good one but we love the Bergamot Bond the most.

What did you love this month?

Favorite Perfumes of 2024

December 18, 2024

Best Perfumes of 2024

Out of all the beauty categories this year, perfume and fragrance has been my favorite. I tried quite a few new brands this year with discovery sets and some of your recommendations and found some new loves.

Now that we’re nearing the end of the year, I’m rounding up my Top Favorites starting with perfume by scent category.

Citrus Scents

Celine Parade

Celine Parade Perfume

Citrus perfumes are my favorite, and this is the category I usually gravitate towards. Celine Parade remains a favorite. I think it’s one you can wear year-round but the citrus notes definitely give it a fresher vibe for spring to summer.

NOTES: Bergamot, Neroli, Vetiver, Musk, Oak Moss

Chanel Paris-Biarritz

Chanel Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Biarritz

The Chanel Les Eaux de Chanel is still my favorite line in the Chanel fragrance lineup. I love the fresh feel they have. Paris-Biarritz remains my most-worn from them.

NOTES: Sicilian mandarin and lily of the valley accord

Fresh & Clean

Cologne Celeste – Celine

Celine Cologne Celeste and Huile Celeste

I love fresh and clean scents but ones that aren’t too soapy-clean. Celine Cologne Celeste is a clean citrus and this is in a different format than their eau de parfums. The bottles for this line are in a larger and taller bottle format for an Eau de Cologne, Perfumed Body and Hair Oil and Bath Milk. I bought the body oil and cologne and love both. They both have a very clean vibe, almost like a fresh body wash, but it’s not too soapy.

NOTES: Angelica, sweet lemon essence, petitgrain, neroli accord, ambrette butter and orris butter

L’Eau Sezane

Sezane L'Eau Sezane perfume review

Sezane L’Eau Sezane was a scent I bought blind just in the last week. This scent was spritzed all over the box for one of my orders and I fell in love with it instantly! I thought about it for several weeks but couldn’t get the scent out of my head. It’s very fresh, clean with an almost green feel to it. Lasting power isn’t the best with this one but I still think it’s worth checking out and it’s one I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day.

Top notes: Essence of Italian Mandarin, Essence of Italian Lemon, Essence of Petit grain Bigarade
Middle notes: Neroli, Water Jasmine, Peony
Base notes: White Musk

Soft Skin Scents and Musks

I love the idea of a skin-like musk scent, but musks can be tricky for me. Some pull too powdery and it doesn’t wear well on my skin, so the ones I lean towards have a warmer vibe.

Phlur Missing Person

Phlur Missing Person Perfume

Phlur Missing Person remains at the top of my list for Phlur. I think it’s going to either be hit or miss for you depending on how it works with your body chemistry but I think it’s one of the best skin-like musk scents I’ve tried. Sephora has their Fragrance for All Event now thru 12/24 so if you’ve had your eye on any perfumes at Sephora you can save 20% off full-size perfumes with code FRAGRANCE20.

NOTES: Top: Skin Musk, Bergamot Nectar, Sheer Jasmine
Heart: Fresh Cyclamen, Neroli Blossom, Orange Flower
Base: Sandalwood Australia Oil, Blonde Wood, White Musk

Guerlain Musc Outreblanc

Guerlain L'Art and La Matiere Musc Outreblanc

Guerlain L'Art and La Matiere Musc Outreblanc - personalized

Guerlain Musc Outreblanc Eau de Parfum is one of the prettiest clean smelling musks I’ve tried. It does have a powdery feel but isn’t too powdery to me. Lasting power is exceptionally good with the L’Art and La Matiere line. I really love that you can customize and personalize the bottles when you order directly from Guerlain. You can change the plate on the cap, ribbon color, seal and also have it engraved. This has been on my wishlist for several years now and I’m THRILLED to finally own a full size.

NOTES: Orange blossom absolut, Bulgarian Rose, musk, ambrette, iris Pallida butter.

Parfums de Marly Valaya

Parfums de Marly Valaya

Parfums de Marly has been pure love this year. My favorite has been Valaya. It’s very potent and has a mix of bergamot, vetiver and mandarin mixed in with the musk. I bought this in both the full-size and travel-size and I love the mini to carry with me or travel with.

NOTES: Bergamot, Mandarin, White Peach, Orange Flower, Nympheal, Vetiver, Akigalawood, Ambrofix, Musk

Glossier You Doux

Glossier You Doux

Glossier added two new scents this year and I decided to pick up Glossier You Doux. I only just recently picked it up but it’s very unique and it’s easily become a favorite for winter. It has a cozy creamy skin like vibe to it. It’s earthy and skin like. The notes list violet which I’m usually not a fan of but it sweetens this scent in a really beautiful way and somehow gives it a fresh vibe. Travel 8 ml size is available at Glossier if you want to try it out first. For the full size you can save 20% off at Sephora now thru 12/24 with their Fragrance For All Event with code FRAGRANCE20.

NOTES: Sweet Violet, Palo Santo, Frankincense, Myrrh and Ambrox

Fruity Floral

Creed Spring Flower

Creed Spring Flower Perfume new launch

In looking at the scents I wear I realized I don’t have a lot of fruity florals that I love. Creed Spring Flower is the one exception and their revamp is 10/10 pure heaven. It’s floral but also fruity with exceptionally long lasting power on me. It’s bright and youthful. A travel size is available in this beautiful 5-Piece Women’s Set.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Green Notes, Lemon
Heart Notes: Apricot, Jasmine, Peach and White Flowers
Base Notes: Ambroxan, Cedarwood and Musk

Vanilla

Celine and Phlur

Best Vanilla Perfumes Phlur and Celine

I’m not a huge fan of most vanilla perfumes. They usually pull a little too strong, gourmand or bitter on my skin and in hot humid weather it doesn’t usually wear well on me. There are a few exceptions that I really loved this year. I used up a few travel sizes in their entirety before deciding to splurge on the full size bottles.
Phlur Vanilla Skin is a solid win for me. I love it in both the perfume and hair and body mist versions. It’s cozy and sweet without being too sweet. I love the mix of sandalwood in it to help give it that cozy gourmand vibe.

Top: Pink Pepper, Pink Apple, Sugar Crystals
Heart: Lily, Jasmine Petals, Cashmere Wood
Base: Benzoin, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Agarwood

I think Celine makes excellent vanilla scents. Black Tie is the one of the best vanillas that’s sweet and slightly smoky. It’s rich and dense without being too heavy. Lasting power is very strong.

NOTES: White orris butter, cedar, tree moss, vanilla and musk

They added a new one this year called ZouZou. I bought this in a travel size to try and while I really like it, I think Black Tie is a better one. ZouZou pulls more powdery.

NOTES: Benzoin, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Labdanum, Vanilline and Musk

Unique Stand Outs

Creed Virgin Island Water

Creed Virgin Island Water

Last two mentions are for Creed. Virgin Island Water remains the best summer time vacation scent with the coconut and fruity vibe. It’s a classic and 100% worth the splurge.

NOTES: Lime, Bergamot, Tropical Fruits, Coconut Milk, Coconut Water, Jasmine, White Flowers, Tonka Bean and White Musk

Aventus for Her

Creed Aventus for Her

Aventus for Her is another unique find and one I feel is more dressy and sophisticated. It’s crisp and floral and fruity all at the same time. I don’t think there is anything else quite like it. There are some woody notes to it which adds a very unique twist.

NOTES: Green Apple, Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Lemon, Rose, Lilac, Ylang-Ylang, Blackcurrant, Pineapple, Peach, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Musk and Ambroxan

Celine Fragrance Collection Review Parade

I had quite a few other loves this year but these are my top favorites. I can’t wait to see what will launch this upcoming year. Please share your favorites with me! I love hearing about your signature scents.
