Clé de Peau Beauté has released eight new Eye Color Quads ($55 for the refill, $25 for the case). The eight shades released for fall include Marmalade Sky 301, Stardust 302, Baby Universe 303, Champagne Supernova 304, Satin Moon 305, Silver Eclipse 306, Stellar Gaze 307, Cosmic Aura 308.
For reference Beauty Professor has all the quads swatched and reviewed. Best Things in Beauty also has a number of quads reviewed.
I’ve played with a few single shadows many years ago but never looked into the quads or palettes due to the hefty price tag. Several readers keep raving about Clé de Peau Beauté via e-mails so I’ve finally decided to look more into the line. I picked out one quad to try out and purchased Satin Moon 305 (along with the case) which has a soft tan gold, a bronze with a hint of plum, a mauve taupe and a smokey brown grey. All the colors have a super soft texture that are really easy to blend. The shimmer in each shade is extremely beautiful with multi-colored shimmers pressed together. On the eyes the shades layer very well together but are on the subtle side for me. In terms of comparisons for pigment, I would say it’s similar to Burberry singles and Chanel Quads (the square pans), less pigmented than Urban Decay and Le Metier de Beaute.
Satin Moon is quite stunning. On me it’s more on the subtle side but can be layered for more intensity. I shot the compact from the side and front to get a better view of the compact. I like that it’s sleek and sturdy. It was really easy to insert the refill into the case without damaging the eye shadows.
Here’s a subtle smokey eye. The flash keeps washing out all the makeup worn, but I hope this gives an idea of how you can wear this with subtle blending (layering light to dark).

I think you can find similar colors in other brands, quads, palettes and singles but the texture and shimmer is really quite extraordinary. It’s really impossible to capture how complex the shimmers are in swatches but I had one that was a bit blurry that ended up showing the different pearl particles well. On the eyes it’s not glittery even though there are tiny sparkle particles.

I couldn’t find any dupes but here are some comparisons:
Urban Decay Half Baked from Naked2
After testing my first Clé de Peau Beauté quad I am really happy with it. I tend to like colors with more pigment and impact (and then I blend it down a bit for more of a natural gradient) but this one is quite lovely. The quality is excellent and for those who don’t do shimmer on the eyes do note this quad is one of the most subtle with the shimmer factor that I’ve tried. I give this one a huge thumbs up, my I’m still a Chanel, NARS and Urban Decay girl at heart when it comes to eye shadows.
I like that you can refill these but I’m not sure I how feel about having to spend $80 on one complete compact.
The Clé de Peau Beauté Fall Eye Color quads have arrived at counters. You can find them (also the compact sold separately) online at Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.

I am so glad you do eye swatches as well now, it's super useful! I love the colouring of this quad as well, thanks for the pictures as usual. 🙂
Glad you found them helpful!

Ditto! I was thinking the exact same thing! Sabrina your eyes look amazing!
These look stunning! I love the kind of shimmer they give off on the light and on your lids.
This is gorgeous! I love the colours you picked, it's my favourite out of the bunch. The pigmentation might be on the softer side but the shimmer looks just gorgeous! Definitely wanting this now!
Thanks Teri 🙂
Thanks for the review. The picture of your eyes is gorgeous! So stunning. Is there any chance you could specify how you've applied the different shades, or write a post about your eyeshadow application tips?
Hi Anonymous, I applied them from light to dark layering each color on top of each other, I'll try to do a tutorial on eyeshadow sometime in the future once I figure out how to photograph the eyes better 🙂
Thank you! Looking forward to the tutorial.
Oh, how nice to see this beauty in action:)! Looks GORGEOUS!!! I have this quad and #306. Thinking about getting 303, but trying to control my appetite for now. When I saw them applied on your eyes, I also had the same desire to know how exactly did you do this look. Frontrowbeauty usually gives very nice tutorials on her makeup application. I will be very happy to see yours when you will have a chance. I am Cle de Peau/Tom Ford Fan:). So, I have probably too many faves from Cle De Peau, but One Fave I feel I must mention is their luminizing face enhancers . They are DIVINE! Thank you for a beautiful review!
Aw, man. I thought Satin Moon said Sailor Moon and I got excited for a minute.
LOL, would have been pretty cool if it was that name!
I love that you showed the actual shadow on your eyes! These shadows look amazing on you!
Thank you Brittanie 🙂
I've never cared for Cle de Peau shadows before, but that shot of your eyes, just incredibly gorgeous! Like the other commenter above, I would really love to see you do a tutorial…maybe a Beauty Look Book Beauty Channel is in the works? 🙂
Wonderfully thorough review as always!
Thank you!
Ava
Thank you so much Ava, I'll really try to get off my butt and get a setup for a tutorial 🙂
These shadows are so, so beautiful! The shade selection is amazing as well.

Hi Sabrina,
I love the gorgeous glowy bronze eye you've created! I was just looking through the Cle de Peau lineup recently, so it was fun to see your review here! I think Silver Eclipse might be my favorite quad of the bunch
Thanks Dovey! Silver Eclipse is so you, I think it's stunning as well.
I adore the Cosmic Aura set! Beautiful palette.
Lots of love, xx

OMG! They are all SO gorgeous!!
Hey Sabrina! Do you, by any chance, know whether these quads are limited edition or part of the permanent line? Unfortunately it seems imposible to have clé de peau products shipped to Germany and I'm not sure when I'll be back in the US. I absolutely adore your blog btw!!
Marie x
Hi Marie, I'm not sure – I tried searching the CdP website for a contact section but can't find it. You may want to leave a comment on their facebook page to ask, perhaps they will respond https://www.facebook.com/CledePeauBeauteUS
In the meantime I will reach out to a few other bloggers to see if they know if these are limited-edition.
Thanks so much Sabrina! You're amazing 🙂
In the words of Gordon Ramsey, "Wow, wow, wow!" LOL This quad looks like it was custom blended for you. It's gorgeous and the smoky eye you've created is very come hither 😉 Date night anyone?
I picked up this quad and also Baby Universe. I haven't worn Satin Moon yet, but I did wear Baby Universe the other day and was very impressed with the smooth, soft, luminous finish and the ease with which the colors blended giving me a seamless flow of color. Applied without primer, there wasn't any fall out and the colors retained their beauty throughout the day without fading or creasing. I've always considered CdP quads to be amongst the very best in terms of quality and Baby Universe was no different. Now I'm eager to try Satin Moon.
By the way, I only ever buy one case for when I travel and the rest of the time I buy my CdP eyeshadows as refills. Since I don't carry eyeshadow around with me, I actually prefer the sturdy, clear plastic container they come in. The minimal packaging is easy to store, it takes up far less space, and it makes selecting a quad ultra simple. I don't need the case to know that CdP is a luxury brand. The quality of the product speaks for itself. Of course, if someone needs or wants a case for each quad, there's nothing wrong with that. It's just a matter of preference and the on,y reason I'm mentioning it is because the issue of buying a separate case always seems to come up when talking about CdP.
Anonymous@4:21 encouraged you to try the luminizing powders and I second it! These chic and refined beauties are the epitome of elegance. I also own all four and if any others are introduced, I will undoubtedly get those as well. Each powder has its own unique beauty and can be used in a number of ways. Rae (RaeViewer) has done a nice post on all four and has some swatches so you can really see the differences in color. Buy one and I guarantee you'll be back for the rest 🙂
Thank you Eileen! You are so so sweet. Baby Universe is so gorgeous, it reminds me a bit of Chanel's discontinued Demure quad. I might pick it up next month when Neimans has their beauty week.
Per your recommendation (and from others) I picked up 2 of the luminizing powders. I can't wait to try them out, still waiting to photograph them before touching.
I second Raeview's feature as a recommendation, her swatches and thoughts are amazing.
I can hardly wait to see which two luminizing powders you selected 🙂
I actually gasped when I scrolled down and saw the first image of the palette! It's stunning and looks really elegant on you! Will you be picking up any of the other palettes?
