Marc Jacobs Beauty | Lola, Role Play and Kissability

March 31, 2014
Marc Jacobs Beauty items from Sephora, accessories Marc Jacobs Sharpies, Heart Notebook and Postcard from Bookmarc located in Los Angeles on Melrose

I’ve recently fallen in love with a few more items from Marc Jacobs Beauty. I’ve been a huge fan of the Hi-Shine Nail Lacquers which I really like for the packaging, color pigment, and price. Today I am featuring three new items I’ve discovered.

  • Lola Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer ($18 for 13 ml) is a flawless bright jelly red, it’s a one-coat wonder nail color that covers the entire nail with one swipe, I’ve only tested for a couple days now but in my experience, Marc Jacobs nail lacquers have decent lasting power with no tip wear or chipping through day 5 or 6 (I use with Deborah Lippmann Rehydrating Base Coat and Dior Gel Top Coat).
  • Role Play Lip Gel ($30 for 3.6g) is my new holy grail nude pink lip, it’s an interesting formula, not quite like a traditional lipstick, it is a gel lipstick with full coverage and a cushy moisturizing feel. This covered my lip entirely, it’s like a lighter modern version of what I wanted MAC Twig/Spirit to be, it’s a neutral rose pink nude that isn’t too light and not too dark.
  • Kissability Lust for Lacquer ($28 for 5 ml) is a sheer rose with gold and pink shimmers. It comes with a sponge tip applicator. The formula is very sheer so I recommend using this on top of lipsticks for more color, it has a vanilla scent with a cool tingley finish (thank goodness it did not irritate or numb my super sensitive lips).

I’m overall impressed with the lip products. I don’t know why it took me so long to try them. I am already looking to try more of the lipsticks. Now that Marc Jacobs Beauty has been out on the market for a while, I’d love to hear what your thoughts are. What have you fallen in love with? What would you recommend passing on? Yays or nays are all welcome.
You can find Marc Jacobs Beauty at select Marc Jacobs boutiques and at all Sephora stores. Online at Sephora.com and MarcJacobsBeauty.com.

Lovely products! I'm intrigued by the lipstick formula, it looks so lush! Also really loving the shade selection of the nail polishes.

That pink lipstick + gloss combo looks amazing with your skin tone. I also love the nail polish, reminds me of a classy red polish from the 50's. Great post! xo

*sigh* I love MLBB pink lipsticks and glosses! They're like my Kryptonite..

I wish we got Marc Jacobs makeup here, there are so man things I'd love to try. Of course, first we'd need to get Sephoras, I guess… 😛

The nail polish is the most perfect red I have ever seen.

    Hi Sabrina,

I love the look of Lola! What a great bright red 🙂

I was tempted to buy one of the Marc Jacobs lip gels but the tester seemed drying and patchy. Looks like I'll have to give them another go thanks to your review! Haha, I didn't know Sharpies and Marc Jacobs had a collaboration.

I played with the testers at Sephora for months (only on my hands). They all seemed really dry and patchy as well – but it's probably due to them sitting opened and touched by so many hands (yuck I know!). I was put off but read reviews and gave one shade a try and I'm glad I did. I didn't know MJ had sharpies either until I saw them at the Bookmarc store in Los Angeles 🙂

I love Lola (my friend picked it up for me), wish I could get other nail polishes from the line, too.

      XOXO Marina!

I may have to give MJ another look at Sephora. Aside from the sleek packaging I thought his product line was pretty unimpressive. After seeing how amazing role play looks on you I think I will give it a second look!

I definitely recommend taking another look, I was unimpressed too with the lipsticks/glosses but it was mainly due to the slightly messy state of the testers. I did some research online before deciding to purchase. Definitely worth trying out.

    MJ Sharpies? I die!! Seriously!!
Sabrina, I wanted to ask you, now that you've had these a few days, does the gloss leak out the top of the applicator? I just read reviews on Sephora and there was a significant number of mentions about the gloss oozing out so I wanted to check with you. I'm hoping it was an old problem rather than a current one. Thanks!

Both Role Play & Kissability look gorgeous! So, so pretty 🙂
